About Erica Wallace Moore

Erica Wallace Moore is a Reiki Practitioner, Instructor, healer, and Akashic Records reader currently in practice at Wellness Paradigm, a wellness and healing collective in Minneapolis. Her Reiki journey began in 2014 after receiving the practice for the first time. As a mother of four, Erica found herself feeling frazzled, stressed, and disconnected from her body. Those initial sessions proved life-changing, helping her return to her center and grounding her in a way she hadn’t experienced before. While it began as a personal tool for healing, Reiki quickly evolved into one of her essential daily spiritual practices. What started as curiosity has since transformed into higher vibrations of connection, compassion, love, and wisdom. Erica is particularly passionate about how Reiki and the Akashic Records expand energetic pathways for self-discovery, forgiveness, joy, and peace.

From Survival to Stillness: Using Reiki to Stop Carrying the Weight of Your Lineage

The journey of healing is rarely a straight line. Often, we think of “wellness” as a destination we reach through better habits, cleaner eating, or more sleep. But what if the things holding you back aren’t just in your current schedule or your current environment? What if they are tucked away in your very cells, carried down through generations of ancestors who didn’t have the space or the safety to process their own burdens?

In the latest episode of Just Like Nana, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Erica Wallace Moore, a Reiki Master and intuitive healer based in Minneapolis.

As a host, I am always looking for ways to bridge the gap between our modern, fast-paced lives and the ancient wisdom of those who came before us. Erica is a master at building that bridge. She describes herself as a “feeling person,” an empath who has learned to turn what the world often calls a “sensitivity” into a spiritual superpower.

The “Gunky” Energy of the Past

One of the most striking metaphors Erica shared during our talk was the idea of “energetic digestion.” We are very aware of how our bodies digest food, but we often forget that we are also constantly “digesting” information, emotions, and interactions.

When we experience a trauma—or when our parents or grandparents did—that information is stored in our central nervous system. If it isn’t processed, it becomes what Erica calls “gunky” energy. Think of it like a refrigerator that hasn’t been cleaned out in years; those old “leftovers” (the grief of a grandmother, the survival stress of a great-grandfather) take up space and eventually start to affect the “fresh” energy you’re trying to bring into your life today.

The Power of Being Seen: Lessons from Nana

A central theme of our show, Just Like Nana, is the way our elders shape our spiritual foundations. Erica spoke beautifully about her grandmother, Pauline Elvira Wallace. In a world that can often feel dismissive of intuitive “feeling” people, her Nana provided the ultimate gift: validation.

“She saw me,” Erica told me. That simple act of being witnessed by an elder allows a child to trust their own intuition. It gives them the permission to be an empath without feeling the need to “fix” everyone or hide their own light.

We also discussed the presence of Erica’s father, Pastor Richard Wallace, during our recording. It was a reminder that our ancestors aren’t just names on a family tree; they are active participants in our healing. They aren’t looking back at us with judgment or expecting us to suffer as they did. Instead, as Erica so eloquently put it, they are cheering for us to raise our vibration. When we heal ourselves, we are, in a way, offering a healing hand back through time to them, too.

How to Start Your Own Ancestral Connection

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by the idea of “healing your lineage,” Erica’s advice is simple. You don’t need a complex ritual or a deep understanding of quantum physics. You just need three things:

  1. A Safe Space: Find a corner where you won’t be interrupted.
  2. Stillness: Allow your heart rate to slow down.
  3. An Open Heart: Simply ask.

Ask your ancestors for a message or a sign. Be open to whatever images or feelings arise, and—most importantly—acknowledge them without judgment.

Final Thoughts

My conversation with Erica reminded me that we are never truly alone in our struggles. We are supported by a vast network of energy and a long line of people who want to see us thrive. Healing isn’t about becoming a “perfect” version of yourself; it’s about clearing out the old energetic clutter so you can finally see the beautiful, vibrant soul that has been there all along.
